By joining Jacob's Pillow during the
off-season,
you'll assist in the
preparation
for the upcoming season for one of the most acclaimed international
dance festivals in the world. We also encourage candidates to
apply for a summer
Festival Internship.
As
an intern, you will:
•
Design
your own fall, winter, or
spring
internship at Jacob's Pillow.
•
Receive
on-the-job training, and
experience
working alongside
professional
staff both
independently
and collaboratively.
•
Gain
a broad perspective on arts
administration,
the dance field, and
dance
history.
Onsite
housing can be arranged and is shared with other Pillow interns, as
well as with artists-in-residence.

winter, and spring can be tailored

meet college credit needs and
individual
interests. Dates and times
are
flexible.

Archives/Preservation
Working
alongside the Director of
Preservation,
the Archives/Preservation Intern will engage in projects that
provide public access to our extensive collection of videos, photographs,
books, and other historical materials. A wide-ranging knowledge
of dance is desirable, as well as computer experience and familiarity
with archival processes.

Artist
Services
The
Artist Services Intern works with Operations and Artist Services
staff in Festival planning and logistics, and assists with travel
and visa support and other
administrative
tasks. They also assist in the support of office and studio spaces,
and computer and phone technology. Candidates should be detail-oriented,
organized, effective time-managers, and should possess a strong
interest in arts management. Computer skills are required in Word,
Excel, and Internet research. An interest in computer hardware
and networking is a plus.

Business
The
Business Intern is exposed to a wide array of financial aspects
of a nonprofit organization. Duties range from the development
and monitoring of institutional and
project budgets to
the
maintenance of accounting
records.
This position requires a basic
knowledge
of accounting principles,
some
spreadsheet software
experience,
and a personal sense of
diplomacy
and confidentiality.

Development
The
Development Intern works with Development staff to raise funds
from individuals, foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
The Development Intern will gain extensive experience with Raiser's
Edge donor database, Theater Manger ticketing software, prospect
research, fundraising mailings, and writing various letters, grant
proposals, and reports. The intern learns all facets of a professional
development office.
Candidates
should possess strong verbal and writing skills and an interest
in the performing arts, and must be flexible, team-oriented, positive,
detail-oriented, and discreet in handling sensitive donor-related
information. Excellent computer skills are required in Word, Excel,
and Internet research. Candidates must include two writing samples,
maximum two pages in length each, with their application.

Education
The
Education Intern will work with staff to plan, organize and implement
the Pillow's community dance program and its professional School's
audition and registration process. Responsibilities include community
relations, residency organization and reporting, and record keeping.
In addition to having a dance education background, the intern
must have a strong ability to organize and multi-task, and must
be computer literate. Two writing samples are required.

Marketing
(Public Relations, Marketing and Graphic Design)
In
the Marketing Department at the Pillow,key strategic work, preparation
and planning takes place in the fall, winter, and spring. An internship
in the Marketing department would be tailored to the intern's
skills and interests. Possible intern projects are: management
of artists materials -photo identification and cataloging, and
collection and organization of artists' press materials; assistance
with writing, marketing, and design of Education Programs and
Festival Season materials; writing of press materials including
press releases, media alerts and pitches; and website development.
Applicants
should have a desire to
promote
dance, an orientation to
detail,
excellent communication skills,
and
a willingness to learn. The applicant must also be computer literate
(internet, PC Word, Excel). Public Relations/Marketing applicants
must have strong writing skills and should submit at least two
writing samples.
Graphics
applicants must submit a portfolio of recent
design work with their application. Please send a self-
