Partnership
Programs
Jacob’s Pillow partners with a network of local and regional community
groups to engage the broadest range of individuals possible in
dance. In addition to the two established partnerships described
below, eight informal alliances with area community groups result
in groups enjoying the Pillow’s grounds, classes, and performances
on a regular basis throughout the summer.
• Days
In the Arts (DARTS)
DARTS
takes place at the Pillow during the
Festival.
Open
to: Groups of 50 students, selected by teachers from across the
state of Massachusetts
Program:
Youth tour the campus, take a dance class, have a picnic, and
attend a free Pillow performance, as part of a program administered
by the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
•
Moving on the Issue:
A Partnership
between
Jacob's Pillow and Railroad
Street Youth Project
Moving
on the Issue takes place year round
at
various sites, including Jacob's Pillow,
Becket
Arts Center, and in Great Barrington.
Open
to: Railroad Street Youth Project participants, age 14-18
Program:
Youth examine key issues impacting their daily lives and use movement
to transform their investigation into choreography and performance.
Participants teach the dances they create to peers and community
members and culminate the project with a performance for the public
at Jacob's Pillow, followed by a discussion about the process
and the work.
